This workshop introduces judicial officers to the core architecture of data protection law: consent, purpose limitation, data subject rights, and the supervisory authority model adopted in most African jurisdictions.
Participants work through realistic case scenarios involving processing of personal data by governments and private companies, and discuss how regional and international frameworks, including the Malabo Convention and the African Union guidelines, bear on domestic adjudication.
