The Africa Judicial Network on Internet Governance convened 42 judges and magistrates from 18 countries for a regional colloquium on data protection law in Abidjan.
Working groups compared national approaches to consent, data subject access rights, and the balance between data protection and law enforcement access. The colloquium adopted a set of draft practical guidelines, now circulated to participating registries for comment.
The guidelines will be revised at a follow-up session next quarter and published on the network's resource hub.
